01At the axle box

Where the measurement begins.

Two compact sensor units mount directly on the wheel axle box or pantograph — a fast, non-invasive installation that leaves the structural integrity of the vehicle untouched. They capture the full profile of vertical impacts, twists and track irregularities encountered by the wheel, at full resolution.

02At the bogie

Signal becomes measurement.

The Peripheral Wireless Measurement Device transforms acceleration data into filtered track geometry, classified by wavelength in line with the EN 13848 methodology. It operates across 5, 24 and 110 Vdc power supplies, with a supercapacitor providing continuous operation through power transitions. Its flexible design makes it compatible with a wide range of locomotives.

03The system head

And then it leaves the train.

The Main Processing Unit collects, positions and sends. GNSS where there is sky, dead reckoning in the tunnel, LTE out to the cloud. Installed in under a working day, with no significant change under Common Safety Method risk analysis.

04In the dashboard

The dashboard puts it together.

In the cloud, the runs are positioned on your track, validated and evaluated — and compiled into one view of the network, with alarms classified by severity and type.

A line section in the portal, with the measured points colour-coded by severity.

05Actionable information

You receive the defect, with its precise position.

The alarm arrives as actionable information: type, severity, trend and a precise position on the line — so the team knows where to go and what to plan.

Alarm detail in the portal: type, first and latest detection, position and comments.

API

One integrated monitoring system

D-RAIL has been integrated into a global railway monitoring ecosystem covering rolling stock, signalling and infrastructure. Within it, D-RAIL is responsible for monitoring track condition — and reports to the central platform through its API.

2hours

to find a hidden defect

A surface defect nobody could locate was wearing down wheelsets on a light-rail network and driving life-cycle costs up. D-RAIL pinpointed it within two hours of installation.

EN 13848

held up in a legal dispute

In a dispute over track subsidence, D-RAIL's objective, standard-compliant measurements withstood challenge — and led to a multi-year, sole-source monitoring contract.
